could the breaking of rear ends be becuase of bad installation...or atleast A WHOLE LOT of torque...whats the best brand to look at for both rear ends.
read i think it is last month or spril issue of CHP. A guy from Indy has a moser 12 bolt and leaves at 6800 RPM. the car is a daily driver and it make 550 on motor dunno if that is at the flywheel or at rear, and that is before the 150 shot. I have read that the moser 12 is very reliable and money we spent but if you are going to make power a good suspension is the best way to start all that power means nothing if you spin your *** off. So you have to make the final call, either way you will have a good rear end more than adequate for any street car. Good luck.
Well, I have to take my dad's side on this one (even though he doesn't like me racing). In this hobby, you're gonna break a lot of stuff regardless of who made it due to the nature of the beast. I think the chances of breaking the 12 bolt over the 9" and vice versa are equal. The difference is null. Drag racing is a crapshoot on how long your **** is gonna last! If it's done right, it'll last longer than if it's done wrong. With this kinda of abuse, it doesn't matter how good it is, it will break sooner or later. In response to something someone said in an earlier post in this forum, I haven't had any problems matching suspension components for my 9".

I agree... to an extent. I believe it's obvious that this isn't totally true- there's always a chance that you'll break a certain component (in this case, a rear), but the chance varies by probability. For example, say you're launching at 6 grand while putting over 400 lb/ft to the wheels. What are the chances that the stock 10-bolt will break quicker than the 9"?
The 12-bolt can be built up to be stronger than the 9", the setup relies heavily on the spline. Choosing a rear is really a matter of personal preference, but in my opinion I think the 9" is the better component for the money- be it a Ford product or not.
Any reason all you guys recommend Moser? I am about to buy a Strange 12 bolt, and have heard nothing but great things about them......Any one reason you always say Moser over Strange?
Both manufactureres are good, if they werent, they wouldnt still be around after all this time. The thing you have to worry about, which was stated earlier is that when you beef up the rear end, something else is gonna break. Drag racing will find the weakest link, so you better be ready to fix/replace something when you put in the rear end(driveshaft, u-joints, clutch, tranny, etc) because the car will find the new weakest link and it will break.
