Default Rough Idle?

Let me start by saying my car "ran" perfect.

Yesterday I pulled off timing cover and changed all the seals due to a WP oil leak.

Also added the JEGGS imitation MSD wires.

Went to start her up and struggled to start. I mean 4 cycles of cranks just to get a slow 100 to 1000rpm climb.

After about 10 seconds of 700-1200 fluctuates the car dies. Did it again and the same. This is what happens every time I crank it.

Any ideas!?

Only trouble code is MAF. Happens even when I unplug it. All spark wires are to correct cylinder. All cylinders are firing (each header is equally hot).

95s and up can only go on one way. Just took it all back apart and it was right!

It's a 95. I haven't reassembled it because I don't wanna have to retake it apart.

95s an up have a dowel sticking out of the cam that fits into a slot on the back of the opti. When I just pulled it (which f'ing sucks!) the dowel was in the right slot.

Do you think my opti could be bad? I'd rather replace it now then have to disassemble the whole engine bay again.

You can disassemble it and inspect the inernals. Anything obviously wrong, replace it with an AC Delco or Delphi. If your sensor has a Mitsubishi logo on it keep it! When you reassemble it, loctite the rotor screws and seal it up.

Also, read this.

Thanks a lot man!

Just reassembled it without the water pump to fire it up and see if resetting it would change anything.

I guess I am a liar because it now idles smooth as can be.

WP goes on in the morning and its back on the streets!
