Default Reccomendations for Torque Convertors

Ive been doing my research and I have an idea of what kind of torque convertor I need for my setup. My setup (Stock bottom end, CC305, 1.6 roller rockers, stock heads and a 100-125 shot of nitrous with rev window switch. I don't remember the exact number but I think its 3200 to 6500 rpm). Now on to my question. I'm thinking I need a torque convertor around the 3200 to 3600 stall range with a anti balloon plate. Ive been looking at the TCI 243105 for my application. But I haven't read/seen much about them. Do you guys have any other recommendations. As always I have a limited budget around 400 and can throw a little extra on it later if the need be.

Stay away from tci. Edge, vigilante, yank, ptc, fti, and others make great converters.

I second the comment on staying away from the TCI. When it comes to converters, you really get what you pay for, not a place to go cheap IMO.

I vote for a used Yank SS3600, should be within a couple hundred of your budget.

A long time ago I was running bolt-ons plus the cc503 cam. I wanted to spray a 150 shot so I called Yank and they recommended the SS3600. I went with there recommendation, never ended up spraying the car but it would have been a deadly combo.

Friend of mine bought a tci, complete junk out of the box. Took a big loss selling it had to buy a new converter.

Tci and b&m both make great transmission companion companion components like shifters and coolers but their converters are pretty terrible.

I have a edge 3200 with the cc503 and to be honest I don't think I could be any happier with my setup.

I like pi vigilante. Plus you get one free stall change. Also get a shift kit and cooler.

Yank, Circle D, FTI all good verters. All billet verters are around the same price. And as mentioned definitely pick up a trans cooler as well.

I ran a Circle D 4000 on spray 200 shot. Most people recommend mid 3K for stall speed. I recommend more. Driving around on the street even my 4000 drove fine. Fuel mileage suffered but that wasn't a care for me. At the strip, the 4000 performed amazing. Sometimes almost felt a little too small. maybe 4200-4500. Now the biggest thing.....A STALL SHOULD BE MOD #1.

Another vote for ss3600. Shop around, I bought a used one with under 2000 miles for 400 a few years ago.

Yank would be my first choice.....Vigilante second choice.

3200 to 3600 stall.

Thanks for recommendations. But should I still be looking for a TC with a anti ballooning plate?

No, as long as you go with a 9.5" billet converter like the Yank SS 3600.

Iirc anti ballooning plate is to make up for a weaker torque converter housing.

For NA, I'd go with the Yank SS3600.
For your 100-125 shot, their PAS3400 would be best. It's the SS3600 with a modified stator that keeps it from flashing too high with the higher torque load. It also daily drives slightly better than the SS3600. "PAS" = Power Adder Series.

Another vote for Yank. I use an SS4000, that converter is absolutely top notch. All my converters will be Yank.
