400 horsepower
#4
Yeah i counted on the ewp adding 100hp!!!! But yeah 380-390hp would be nice. I read an article where the hotcam made 425 crank. The cc305 has more lift and duration than the hotcam when run with 1.6 rockers. But my shade tree jerry rig build should at least get 375crank through a m6?

It's not difficult to make 400 flywheel with a "cam-only" LT1, but you'd likely need more cam than the CC305.
Years ago I made 352rw SAE through a M6 and 10-bolt with an XE224/236, which is right around 400 flywheel if you use the 13% driveline loss math.
The 425-hp LT4 top-end kit is a waste of money, you can do much better than that for what it costs.

Newp. I think bolt on stuff with rockers makes around 310rwhp if not a few more? With the cam, maybe 340 or a few horsies more. You need ported heads to support the cam to get anywhere higher than that, and even with that cam and good heads you probably won't break the 400 mark. It's a few degrees off a hot cam. I don't ever recall anyone breaking the 400rwhp mark with one including ported heads.

I would be happy with 340rwhp through my m6 with just cam and stock heads. If we use the 15% loss, that would equall 400 flywheel. Im doing ewp and rr's so it should be close. I would be happy with 380ish also. And its a streetable cam with a 114lsa. Yeah 400 rwhp i would expect to need le2 heads and a pretty big cam.

I'd venture a guess that your mods are gonna give you ~100 flywheel hp over stock so that's 375ish at the fly. With a slightly larger cam and 1-3/4" LT's then 400 flywheel would be more realistic IMO. None of that really matters tho, just as long as you enjoy the car and whatnot.

Its a 96 so i started out at 285hp yee haaa lol. Yeah i figure 375 will be the minimum hp i should get. I dont see the mac mids restricting hp that much at this level. Should help make nice torque with the 1 5/8 primaries. You nailed it, i will love driving it. I already love the car with stock power. Cant complain, got the cam and lifters new for $160. If i wasn't on a budget i would def do a custom billet cam from Lloyd and some le1 heads and have a very streetable 350-360rw.

OP
you doing valve springs also?
you need to.
cam only, stock heads maybe around 325...could be less rwhp
whatever tune you get will play a big part in the HP gain with just cam and your other mods
