Default 96-97 tuning...

Just purchased 97 30th anniversary z28 with strong motor and blown up trans, while I have k member out and easy access i figure it's a great time for some bolt ons. Nothing major just the usual lt's, tb, ORY.....however I cant fine ANYONE in my area who tunes lt cars, specifically 96/7. All tell me to use 94/5 pcm witch I will not.... any advice? Doin a 53 swap but for the mean time I'd like to play with it

there are a few tuners doing "mail order". For your bolt ons that will be fine.

You ship your PCM in and they ship it back in a few days

I used fast Chip (Ed Wright), Others use a guy called Solomon.

I am sure a search will turn up others

Yeah I looked into some mail order tunes but nothing beats having a custom tune.... don't understand why hp tuners cant cover it, it's obd2

for bolt on mods...a qualified tuner will get a "mail order" tune within a few HP of a dyno tune if not equal.

If you find a qualified tuner with a dyno great but if not in your area or driving distance you can deal with, for your basic bolt on mods the mail order will be fine

Exact reason I'm switching to the 24x setup. Can have anyone tune it after that.

Solomon is the only person you need. I can start my car completely cold on E85 and take off with 5 seconds if I wanted and start driving. Car does not load up and runs like a raped ape!

short shifting by 500rpm cause LT1 torque no care.

Looked @ Solomons web page... with doin a 53 swap soon anyways, cant justify $400+ just for a tune when it only cost me $200 to tune my ls truck and only $60 for retunes. Too much to spend for the dinosaur, probably just stay stock. Doesn't seem to be worth it to me

If you Already have LS tuning capability that definitely makes things more convenient.

Why don't you want to change to OBDI?? All you need is a pcm and knock sensor..

1. Because I don't wanna lol
2. It's already a dinosaur, why make it even more prehistoric? Lol
And finally 3. The simplicity of the obd2 protocols

I was a service tech for Chevrolet from 03 to 12, and Toyota from 12-14
Now I drive a wrecker. I love wreching but got tiredof the stealership politics

Some of us live in emissions counties too...

OP, I had Moe Bailey tune mine. He did it in person, but he does offer mail order.
