Unless you're changing rod bolts, I'd say no.

Changing the rod bolts to ARP and resizing the big end would be the first thing I would do. It doesn't cost that much and is a critical step in the engine rebuild.

Changing the rod bolts and resizing the big end means pressing the piston off the rod, and most shops won't put them back on. At least here its cheaper to buy new rods than pay for resizing, r&r pistons, arp bolts and you end up with forged rods. http://www.jegs.com/i/Scat/942/2570020P/10002/-1. The while your here, becomes a slippery slope. I know as I'm having to make the same choices.

It's not necessarily that the bolt breaks, it's more common it stretches a tiny bit, and causes either a rod knock, or the rod bearing to spin. It's $80-120 total to resize all 8 rods, plus $75 for ARP bolts, plus whatever to press the Pistons back on, so maybe $200-250 total, and you don't need to spend $200 to rebalance the rotating assembly like you would need to if you got new rods. It's just such cheap insurance and allows you to grow and never worry about it, maybe now you are ok with 6000rpm, but maybe 5 years down the road you want more power, you won't have to worry about taking it to 7000.
