Default Valve covers

Will be doing alternator relocation and looking into aftermarket valve covers. Which covers are you guys using that will clearance the 1.6 rockers? I had to trim my factory ones to clear.

Cantons or any other fabricated ones will. I have also seen on ebay that there are stock style tall covers as well. Any centerbolt chevy valve cover will fit your heads

Another option would be the LT4 composite valve covers. They will clearance 1.6 RR's without any grinding. They are about $200 for a good used set so a bit pricey but they've been my favorite set of valve covers so far.

I would avoid the Proform tall covers. I had a pair, at one time, and they weren't strong enough to be snugged down, and not seep oil. After I installed them, I had to "snug them up" every day, literally, and after about a week, or so, the tops were starting to cave in.....

Don't get cantons. Hard the seal. Get the lt4 or find a set that has a lip to hold the gasket, cantons don't have the lip and it makes it difficult to seal. At least my cantons did not have the lip.

Composite VCs are the best I've used. I love the o-ring style gasket, fastener setup, looks and size. Not cheap but worth the money IMO.

Cantons worked fine with a cork gasket but they are bigger than necessary. They look cool though.

I may do a little project and use the stock bottom but add a taller top, we'll see though

No issues or leaks with my Cantons, even with the annoying rubber gaskets. First stuck the gaskets to the VC's with a small amount of silicone then let it tack before installing them together.

Would be a PITA to install a rubber gasket dry with them or by putting on the head first since it will move all over the place.

that was the only issue with mine and the cork gasket was keeping everything lined up while trying to bolt up....i would imagine letting them tack up on the vc first would help
