Chevy/Fbody newb HELP!
So as you maybe able to gander from my username. I'm a former(and currently), Mustang owner. I have late model V6 Mustang that I plan to keep as a DD, and I'm really looking to add an F-Body as a, street/occasionally track car. I found a modded LT1 Z28 in my area that seems like a moderate deal. I'll provide a link to the cars craigslist ad and was wondering/hoping maybe some of you vets on the board could give me a good idea how this car looks as far as price, and in terms of performance. My original plan was to find a lower mile, stock/stockish LS1 and possibly do A H/C/I set up with that. With all my rambling being said, here's the car I'm interested in.
https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/6001802823.html
Reasons:
calls it a "camero"
no proof of 410 HP
no specs on cam
no brand on rockers
no proof of valve job or porting
bigger throttle body = big whoop
ebay ricer intake
bigger injectors but no spec of clear visibility in pic
no name transmission build and stall
shift kit = el oh el
can't have a mint interior without a headliner
did not mention it has been tuned for the mods let alone who did it
the car has three different sets of wheels between the pics and video so it probably doesn't look nearly as nice as photos suggest
The painted intake and valve covers are kinda cool but that's it.
In FL this is a $1500 car all day long without proof of work and confirmation of said parts. Even with proof 5k is a stretch because that stupid ebay elbow tells me this guy and his busted car are full of ****.
You can find similar mileage stock LS1s for about 5k but will likely be the less desirable '98 or a 99-00 that need some attention. None of them will be a 6spd unless the motor is blown up.
Not tryin to scare you away from the LT1 .... just this one.
EDIT:
It was probably in some front end collision (reported or not) due to how the hood sits on the driver side. I would have expected the guy to adjust the rubber stoppers before the photo shoot if it was an "easy fix"
