Default Valve spring recommendation for comp XFI 468

Hey guys, I have a comp xfi 468 (and all supporting mods) in my motor I am just finishing up. Long story short, my heads are set up with new comp 26918 beehives. Although I have not ran them yet, after reading stories, and hearing the same thing over, Im pretty sure I am going to break a spring with this cam. I plan to sell off the 918's and go with a better valve spring. I want to rev it out as high as I can, so I want some good springs. I have no problem spending upto around $450 if necessary.

I have been looking at the lunati 73925 springs, but I'd like something with ti retainer, and haven't found that option. What other choices would you guys suggest for spring kits?

The motor is a forged 383. Stock head castings, ported with larger seats installed. Ported stock intake with bbk 58mm. 12-1 compression. It will see alot of drag strip use and alot of nitrous. Thanks

I have no direct experience with them but BTR seems to have good reviews on their springs and titanium is an option for retainers.

If your spring pockets have been machined down some to allow a 1.800" installed spring, these may work. They say LSx though so confirm spring ID & OD will fit your heads

I got the Lunati kit

Actually, I contacted BTR yesterday and they said the only springs they offer that would work for me would require machining the tops of my valve guide diameters down to .500". Those are very nice springs tho.

******, how do you like the lunati springs and how high do you rev your motor?

Just get the Lunati's, they are proven set of dual springs. Their tool steel retainers are apparently really light anyways. I'd personally have them over titanium retainers any day. As I mentioned in your other thread, I just bought them for my Vette which will be seeing 7,000 rpm regularly and will be road raced. The Lunatis will also go into my Bird once my beehives need replacing.

The Lunati spring would not require the valve guides to be machined down to .500. Not uncommon for other springs though.

I am very pleased with the Lunati kit. Lloyd Elliot recommended them and I purchased them from him.

My rev limiter is set at 6700 but I shift at 6400 max. I have the smaller 466 XFI

I Emailed BTR and they do offer their platinum spring kit for the gen 2 Lt1. The only issue is that the valve guides need to be machined down to .500" for the seals. Ithe was a little harder than I expected to find the spring kit other than ordering direct. But I did find them at Colorado speed for for $331 shipped with titanium retainers. The part number is BTR SK004T for titanium and SK004S for steel. Those were $227 shipped
