Ported Lt1 intake all day.......

I personally would not use anything less than a 200cc runner on a 383 or a heavily modded 350

Well I know in a LT1 head shootout done by GMHTP magazine that the 195cc AFR Street head(516hp,478ftlbs) took the win against 200cc Dart(483hp,464ftlbs), 200cc Trick Flow(511hp,476ftlbs), 185cc Golen(493hp,476ftlbs), and a LT4 195cc Edelbrock(472hp,457ftlbs).
The engine for this test is an 11.1:1- compression, mildly cammed, 383-cubic-inch LT1 built by Golen Engine Service. A Comp Cams 230/236 duration, 0.576/0.570- inch lift, 113 LSA camshaft is our constant, with each head acting as the sole variable.

You can either trust magazine articles where results correlate to vendor ad revenue, and no mention is made of custom porting jobs, .... or you can trust people that have been there and done it, and are completely objective about it.
516 hp is not pushing any limits for a 383.

BTW, pretty good dyno numbers for mild bolt-ons in that truck no headers?

There is mention of the competition porting on the AFR's also the 185cc heads a stock ported heads. And I would say there is more power to be had if it didn't have a comp cam in it.

Yup, standard practice for AFR-funded mag articles: out-of-the-box 195 AFR's, probably ported to 205+cc.
You're also right about the cam they used. Nothing wrong with Comp, but that's a weak choice for a healthy 383.

After doing some research with the AFR 195s vs AI 200s the intake flow is a dead heat between the two but the exhaust the AFRs just has the advantage. Again prices are close but for a new casting the AFR makes up for the $50 difference with the ability to go further, thicker deck, and better materials.
And I won't run a Comp no more with the same you said about AFR funded article I just see it as a Comp funded article because all you see in magazines these days are Comp Cams because they give away cams like it's prom night and they are about to get lucky.
