Quick Question About Jegs Damper/Balancer Hub
Hey everyone! I messed up my hub trying to reinstall it (crank does not appear to be damaged nor does it move so I feel pretty confident that the thrust bearing is still okay). I just have two quick questions for anyone who has run the Jegs harmonic damper hub. I have searched everywhere but can't get confirmation on either of these. My crank is stock.
1. Can I run the Jegs damper hub (51607 for my 94 z28) without keying it? I'm only going to be running a hot cam and supporting mods. I'll be reusing the stock damper.
2. Will the replacement ARP bolt work with this hub? Part numbers 134-2501, 134-2503, or 234-2501. All have the same thread and underhead length. I'm concerned they might be meant for 96-97 engines.
I would love to hear from anyone with actual experience with this! Thanks in advance!

The stock crank is already cut for a key, why not buy a pack of keys for $4 and put one in???
I purchased the Jegs hub and did just that. Yes you could not run a key with it if you wished but its literally putting the right size out of the multipack and done.
EDIT: I am also running the ASP underdrive balancer with the Jegs hub. The ASP is standalone, doesn't piggy back like most underdrive pulley kits. Anyway, been running that combination of parts for about 8 years now with no issues.

I've never had the hub off of any engine before, so the idea of finding the right key was a bit overwhelming. I suppose if it's that simple then I'll just run with it.
Does anyone have a link or part number for the correct key or a multi-pack of them?

Pretty sure that is what I bought, although yeah if someone knows the exact size it will save you about $3. Single keys seem to be about .60 versus $3.50 for the multipack.

if the hub is keyed....I would spend the $ for a key
use a proper install tool...not a hammer or the hub bolt to put it on.
You can buy threaded rod the thread size of the hub bolt, big washers, thrust bearing and a nut and make a install tool that work very well

Thank you all for the replies! I'm going to pick up the key kit. This build has been quite the undertaking!
Anyone have any ideas on the hub bolt? I'm not sure which to use or if those ones will work with the LT1 snout.
