Default 97 trans am

Hey everyone, this is willie friesen, im new to this forum & lt1's. So I just bought myself a 97 trans am lt1 that had no spark. So I went for the opti, but when I pulled it off I saw it was a non-vented optispark. To my knowledge the 97's are supposed to have vented right? So then I looked at the part number on the pcm, also says it's for a 95! Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe it was converted to obd1 or it's a replacement engine in a 97 body. My vote would be its a junkyard motor swapped out and it happened to be obd1 95 and below.

Years ago, people with OB2 cars would convert them to OBD1 for some reason that I can't remember.

For tuning purposes, lots of options to tune the OBD1 compared to the OBD2 that was in the 96-97 Lt1s.

Never had a chance to get pictures, but if I'm right the red wire leading to the opti is supposed to have 12v when key is on right? Mine doesn't have any! So which wire connector is it on the pcm? I wanna make sure it's not my wires before I do the 24x link by torqhead.

Shoebox's site is extremely helpful.

Thanks! So it's saying that the red wire is supposed to be hot, leading to the opti. I'm not getting anything there, also which color connector is it on the pcm?

I would look through the schematics and clickable harness on Shoebox's site, I believe it even had a guide there that shows an excellent troubleshooting guide for the opti and the ign module, as well as the pcm connectors wiring.

Just bought myself the Torqhead conversion kit, so hopefully that fixes my problems.
