Default M6 Impala SS?

Had a guy send me a private message here a few days ago, about "jumper wires" to make the AC work on an Impala SS, that had been converted to a 6 speed manual transmission. Sounds like he was trying to use an F body M6 tune?
I have been doing M6 Impala SS cars since 2005. Properly done, there are no jumper wires involved. Everything works like they always did, but you have to shift gears yourself.

No 383"s. LOL. THE 350" I have in the car now has run almost quick as the 383" did. Best it has gone so far is this year is 9.88.

Must be a logic issue with the tune potentially being from the wrong platform. The tune in my M6 Roadmaster is based on the stock b-body tune. The downside of this is that the reverse lockout doesn't function properly (but a switch can be wired up).

If you use an F body M6 for a B body, for one the tach at times is cut in half and the ac will not work

You have to know what to do to the calibration file ("tune") to cure all that. Probably done a dozen of them.

Some hooning from back when it was on the road:

Made about 300whp and was scary to drive because boat suspension. It's currently torn apart for H/C, suspension, and gear swap. Looked like this before I parked it:

I was going to hardwire the lockout to a button on the shift **** to actuate the lockout. I can get a Volvo 240 shift **** with the 5th gear button in the junkyard for a few bucks, was going to try that. How do you go about changing it in the tune? I don't remember seeing any parameters for it in Tunerpro.

Ed has more cool stories and experience with the LTx than practically anyone. I loved the story about testing the edelbrock package for the magazine, having to sugar coat the results to keep the sponsor who gave the parts happy. Racing east coast vs west coast, running a "stock" 350 in the 9s, all of it.

You can not build the calibration file ("tune") correctly with any point & click software I have seen. I used a hex editor to alter an M6 F body cal to operate the HVAC properly, and added a few parameters to my TunerCat definition files, to correct things like the tach. Wire the transmission up like the F body, and reverse lockout & skip shift works just like in the F body. Skip Shift can be shut off, same as it can be in an F body. Everything works just like if the car was manufactured that way.
