After you install the waterpump, you have to bleed the lines a few times. There are two bleeder screws on the coolant lines. With the car running, open these bleeder lines and let all the air out. You will have to do this numerous times to get all the air out of the lines. Car should run fine then. If not, take out the thermostat and test it in boiling water to see if it opens or not. good luck!

I agree air in the system seems to be a good call...But remember this is an electric pump, one speed all the time,it does not increase with rpm so under full load it might not be up to the task of moving enough coolant?

true i thought about both theories and have no idea why my friend bought the ewp if it the stock is driven by the cam. well I think the problem that it has is probably an air pocket some where in the motor. thanks guys!

If stocker stat does the same, try pulling that knock sensor out. They'll be some coolant hiding in that too. It took me a while to get all my bubbles out.
