Unhappy LT1 Problems.. Fuel or Electrical issue?

Hey all, just picked up a 96 T/A WS6 a couple weeks ago. Car has run great since then but it started to develop an exhaust leak. I was driving it home a couple nights ago and i noticed the fuel gauge shot all the way past full, then the engine started to die. I pumped the gas pedal and the car went back to normal. About half a mile later the same thing happened, and the car completely stalled. I tried restarting it. the engine would crank but wouldn't start. Waited a few minutes and it started and i drove it home fine. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Im new to the whole LT1/LS1 scene so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You need a fuel pressure tester (gauge) spray some throttle body cleaner or starting fluid in the throttle body to see if she will start.
FUEL PUMP issue......

Check for spark at the plug
IGNITION CONTROL MODULE
possibly an OPTI issue

The fuel gauge jumping like that leads me to feel like its electrical. Because the fuel pump and fuel level sender share the same ground it could be as simple as the plug at the chassis could be damaged or unplugged. After replacing the tank and sender I found after about 3 months the plug worked its way back out ( forgot the safety clip) and not only was I getting a full reading all the time but my brand new fuel pump was not working properly.

I'd say start with the easy test pressure, if the pressure is good its not in your tank. If the pressure is bad check the plug. The plug is on the driver side of the chassis in front of the fuel tank. Pull it down and check for voltage and ground with a multimeter. If you have 12v at that plug, a ground and a signal wire then you have to go into the tank.
