Default Vortech SC for my 383

Hello

Karl Ellwein(Ellwein engines) is building me an awesome 383 LT1. It is fully forged. I MAY upgrade to blower pistons. If I do, does anyone know a reasonably priced Vortech Super Charger that would give me another 100-150hp? I like the ProCharger, but they are very expensive, and I don't need more than 100-150hp. I do want a very reliable product too.
It seems there are many V named Vortech super charger systems, and I don't know which would be best and at what cost. Does anyone have experience here?

Thank you!!!!!!

If Vortech is the only one your interested in, I would recommend their T-trim series since you have a 383 you'll need the bigger blower to fill the additional volume your motor is producing.

you will also need to up the injector size and install a additional inline fuel pump. That is what my friends Vortech required on his LT1

I'd get an oil fed, straight cut gear Ti trim.
The different V's mean oil pan fed vs self contained, straight cut (strong but loud) gear vs helical (quiet) gear and trim which is the size and ultimate power output of each unit. Search here and on camaroz28.com for many answers to your question.
If you are buying used you need a clockwise spinning unit but do your research.

Thanks! Is going used a bad idea? How would I know if I was getting a good product? Are they easy to rebuild?

I don't think they make LT1 kits anymore. ATI might and they have a new head unit that looks pretty good.

i would go at a minimum the D1 or step up to the F1 from Brutespeed. Bob will take care of you. Have Karl set you up for boost. Once go boost, you won't look back.

Thank you. I would like to build it for boost. Currently I don't think I'll be able to do that for a while though. I want Wiesco pistons and the rotating assembly would need to be re-balanced so id be looking at a bit more cost.
