alternator disassembly

im looking to take apart the alternator on my lt1, trying to polish the case. loosened the 4 visible bolts on the casing, its loose but wont pop off, anyone?

I think there's a nut that locks in the spindle when you remove the pulley or something like that.

Be carefull, if you pull up on it and stator comes with front case its a pita to get brushes and that back in. Should just undo the 4 bolts that hold cases together and undo the pulley nut, comes off fairly easy with an impact gun
