My 1994 LT1 has become very hard to start. Must crank it 4 or 5 times. Then it sputters (seemingly on one cylinder) then it starts. Idles roughly, and at a higher RPM, 1500.

Runs O.K. when driving.

 

May need
New cap and rotor-
New spark plugs
Fuel filter
Check fuel pressure.. pressure may be bleeding off

 

have you checked for stored codes?

 

Vacuum leak maybe? Does it do this once it's warmed up?

 

Could be ignition related or fuel related. Check for codes, check fuel pressure, when was the last tune up done, and is your water pump leaking?

 

Might have bad check valve on the fuel pump which causes extend crank. Put fuel pressure gauge on it, and see if it holds pressure after priming up.

I had same problem ended up putting race tronix pump and hot wire kit. Now mine starts first try.
