Default Intake Clearance?

A friend is giving me a free professional products hurricane intake. While I am jumping for joy on a free piece, I am wondering if it will clear my WSQ hood with a 6061 low profile elbow? I think the hurricane intake is very similar to the super vic in dimensions. I would like to keep my current hood and do not have any problem clearancing the underside of the hood, I just dont want to cut a hole in my hood just to run the intake setup. I know a victor jr and the 6061 low profile elbow clears just fine. I also know 98-02 TA hoods have a little more clearance than the camaros. Anyone have any experience with the same intake or a similar situation?

Honestly not really worried about cutting the cowl. Just worried about cutting the exterior side of the hood

Take a tape measure and start measuring heights of each part...add them together. Voila

Putty works well to put on top of the intake to see how much hood clearance you have when the hood is closed.

I have a Vic E and a 1 inch spacer, then a ultra low profile Edelbrock elbow, that touches the cowl in my car.

Really? More impressed about the 1" spacer than anything. I have been comparing pad height on different intakes. The 1" spacer should put it at the same height as the super vic (I think).

What hood you running? I have the VFN WSQ hood and I think it has a tad more clearance than the OEM Ram Air hood.

Cowl hood from VFN I believe.

Intake will hit car cowl before hood though. If I went to a taller elbow (I should) I would have to cut cowl I think.

If you go to far, you lose PAX wiper.

Cool. Depending on how tight the clearance is, I may just mill a tad off the intake flange and mill a tad off the elbow flange.

I know people that have run a super vic and have cleared a low profile elbow. Not worried about cutting the cowl. I just dont want to go crazy with it
