177 blower on 454

Default 177 blower on 454

have a 454 around 10.5:1 compression, have a 177 weiand blower on hand and was wondering if I ran I high octane if I can run the blower on this engine.

Yes you can, Underdrive the blower and be careful with the tune and not run to much timing. You might have to run a mix of 110 race and premium.

I have a boost timing master control that i will use. Holley prefers to retard about 1 degree per pound of boost. My ECR at 7 psi would be about 15:1 and to me with no more than 28 degrees full boost on high octane and a richer air fuel mixture seems do able but everything i read says no. If i underdrive the blower to stay in the safe zone of 12:1 ECR thats abot 2 psi and at that point almost not worth it i think

What are the internals? Forged pistons? Do you have E-85 available?

4 bolt main bored 60 over Forged 10 over steel crank forged 6.135 rods forged kb dome pistons full roller hrdaulic cam amd rockers and not dont have E85 anywhere close but can get 110 octane race fuel original built the engine naturally aspirated but now that i have the blower wanted to see if i could run it with this set up

Post this up on Yellowbullet forum in the supercharged section, This is more of a LS based engine forum and not many here are familiar with a roots style supercharger.
My opinion is you should be able to run 5-6lbs with a forged piston as long as you run good fuel and keep the timing in check.
At that low of a boost I don't think you have to worry about ring gap. Even a few pounds of boost will add quite a bit of low end torque.
