Default No start

Okay this car i got as a no start i thought it was locked up but i pulled all the plugs out and hit the key switch and it spun over.
The car is a 1995 pontiac firebird trans am lt1 6 speed
i removed all spark plugs installed new plugs the old spark plugs were dry but covered in black soot????
removed and replaced the optispark dist.
tested the coil resistance and it shoes 8.14k ohms from pin a/b/c/d to the ignition coil wire stem
i figured that it sounded like it was not getting fuel because it would spit and sputter while cranking over like it is starving
tested fuel pressure and received a reading of 42 psi at the port
i hooked my battery charger up and charged the battery to a full charge and still cannot get the car to start
removed and replaced the ignition coil module
i also hooked an inline spark plug tested up and turned engine over and it is producing a bright pink spark through the tester
when i installed the optispark i did not force the opti back onto the front of the engine and tried to line up the pin in the opti.

any ideas of where to look next or what to take a look at???? can anyone point me in the right direction or give me any suggestions???? this is my first lt1 engine so i am kind of at a loss as i have only seen one other and when i tested the opti was bad on it and the customer didnt want to replace.

You say you are getting spark. Do you test for spark at the coil or at the plug? If you spray starter fluid into the throttle body see if it will run then. I have read about people installing bad opti's out of the box, so hopefully that is not the case. Are you sure you plugged it back in and routed all of the wires properly? Do you have any blown fuses?

Are your injectors firing? Try to start it on starting spray.

no i tested the small wire from the coil to the opti, stupid me that only tells me im getting fire into the opti not saying im getting anything out i will take a look and see what i have, i have not found any blown fuses, THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP SO FAR IT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! i work way too much and sometimes dont think with the clearest mind anymore. NO R&R ever!

also i havent been able to start it on starting fluid or anything because i dont have anyone that can hit the key for me, if i can i may go get a set of noid lights to see if the injectors are getting fire, also i will post an update on the car once i see there is fire actually making it to the cylinder

You should be able to smell gas or take a plug out to see if it's wet as well after trying to start it. The sputtering you hearing, is it backfiring? The good news is it's either spark or fuel, and with the problem being this major, it should be much easier to spot.

i wouldnt say really a backfire almost like a very very weak spark just enough to give the engine a little bit of a bump the car seems to be trying to crank while the key is held but may have one or two small bumps after letting off the key im going to throw my inline tester on one of the cylinders and see if i have anything there i will post back up very soon what i have found

speaking of which do you have to have a scanner to pull the codes or is there any way to jump the connectors like back in the 91 camaro days, i have a scanner but it is only OBD2 i would like to see if maybe the car can help me too if it has any codes.

ok i just shot a video of the spark plug tester in action under the hood kind of hard to start the car and watch it at the same time especially with a stick, looks like im getting a good shot of fire through the tester. wish i had someone to key it up so i can shoot some fuel into it. also im getting kind of the old muscle car smell around the car while trying to start like a rich running 69 camaro with premium gas or something.

Could still be some sort of timing issue... It's very possible the timing chain is grossly off/skipped a few teeth, etc...
I believe the only year the data port can be jumped for codes is the '93. If you have an OBDI car you need an OBDI scan tool.
