96 ss bought and paid for didn't even make it home
Ok guys bought my 96 ss fueled it and drove about an hour about 60/70 miles at best check gauges light came on as well as the service engine light came on after about 15 miles oil psi was good Speedo, tach, temp, all good except charging voltage was up around 14 15 but needless to say we stopped to eat got back in it and after about 20 mins of driving a was in 5th slowed to about 45 50 mph and matted it just curious what it would do and stuttered and bogged down and just died started a rolling start in 3rd gear didn't work tried the ignition didn't work let it sit for a second tried it still wouldn't crank it turnsover but will not start I can hear the fuel pump prime so ik it's working Idk how well but does work I have checked fire yet but I'm leaning towards the opti anyone else had a simular experience or issue or have any advice????
Punctuation would go a long way.
Anyway, as Shbox said, if the CEL came on, there's a code in there that'll tell you where to start. Get a good scanner cable (not from Red Devil River), download Scan9495 or $eehack, and see what the car is telling you

Hi Duby, I supply many "opti spark" distributors here at LS-1 Tech.
There are threads about voltage reads on the connector wires, test your connector voltage.
FIRST, I would remove the HT wire from the CAP, observe a Spark ?
The Spark if found could state a loose rotor/broken ?

first check the fuel pressure WITH A FP GAUGE
It should immediately snap to 40-44 psi then drop some with KOEOff
go buy a cheap OBD2 scan tool at harbor freight. You can even get a OBD2 code reader only for around $40.
what can happen when a car is shiating itself from no or low fuel pressure is it will misfire, stumble. That action can set a misfire code because...it is misfiring but not because of ignition but because of no or low fuel pressure.
The above scenario assumes the fuel pressure did not check out. Your issue could be ignition related and a code should help identify that. Cars that run they die after warmed up and do not re=start can often be ICM. Or your opti could be bad be it sensor or simply rotor screws came out and rotor is now spinning on shaft

If the check gauges light came on then I think that is trying to point you to voltage, oil pressure, or engine temp issues(and maybe low oil level).
As the others mentioned, get an OBD2 scanner and pull the codes first.
