Default Cranking with No Plugs

So i've got a little water in my motor (maybe a little fuel also) and need to get it all out. I have all my plugs out the motor and want to crank it but want to do it as safe as possible. Do I need to disable anything? also should I cover my plug wires in case there is fuel that comes out and goes on them creating a spark.

I would get the wires out of the way, lay out rags around the plug areas to try and keep fuel off the motor. Pull coil wire off or pull fuse to ignition control if you know where it is. Plan to change your oil and filter afterward. Not sure why you have this issue but it may be a good time to do a compression test to see if there is damage (Head gasket, rings, valve train). You need all of the plugs out for this test as well, while testing each cyl individually.

You can pull the PCM fuse which will kill both ignition and fuel pump.

Turn it over a couple times slowly by hand before you go cranking it just incase you have some fluid in the cylinders on the compression stroke.

With a long breaker bar and a socket on the crank pulley bolt, I've used a long ratchet as well.

If you have the plugs out you can crank the engine no problem because there will be no compression stroke. All air will escape through plug holes.

Well crap. What year is your car? Perhaps only the 96/97 OBDII cars got an in-cab PCM fuse. Do what ****** said. Pull the coil wire completely off. Don't let it dangle. I killed an ICM doing that. Must've arched onto the ICM body and fried it somehow. There also may be an ignition fuse in your underhood fuse panel?
