Default 1/10 mile speed

This is a serious question..ive been in a wreck where i was accused of going over 62 mph in less than 1/10 mile...i really doubt this..i had a 97 ws6 m6 with slp loudmouth thats it...just curious on if the top speed i could have been going in just a hair below 1/10 mile..any suggestions..thanks

Maybe not way over 62 but I am sure you could have been around there.

Were you going ***** out from a start? Just take a look at peoples time slips from the Track. You can use the 1/8 mile MPH and reduce by a bit.. Remember,,, the car will accelerate at a much greater rate at lower speeds,, IE 20-40 quicker than 40-60 etc,,

Come to think of it,,, I think a 14 second car can be at 70MPH+ within a 1/8 of a mile,, so yes it is very possible.

You can't do that. The car accelerates at a much faster rate at lower speeds. Say you trap at 100mph in the 1/4 You arent at 50mph in the 1/8 more like 75-80. So the first 1/8 mile you get up to 75mph,, then the next 1/8 you only add 25mph.

Correct. It's possible, though unlikely. You'd have to be accelerating pretty hard.

Post it in the drag racing section. Maybe someone could answer the question. I think it is possible though. I was going 83 mph in the 1/8 a while back. The difference between 1/10 and 1/8 it 132 ft.

Remember though that this is a mostly stock LT1. And I'm not sure he was really ripping on it or not.

I was playing with an acceleration simulator and my 330 foot speed was around 63 mph. 1/10 of a mile is 528 feet. 1/8 of a mile is 660 feet. My 1/8 mph speed was around 92 mph. The 1/8 speed is pretty accurate for my car. I realize that he has a LT1 that is lightly modded.
If he can run even 78 mph in the 1/8 then he should roughly be able to go 53 mph in 330 feet. That gives him 198 feet to gain 9 more mph's.
So physically I think he could do it because he would still be in second gear. But, like you said we don't know if he was on it hard or not. JMO.
