ECU/Trans controller with available tuning software
I like it due to the small intake profile and the fact it can bolt into any engine bay a Gen 1 sbc did and the extremely cheap and versatile accessory setups.
The tuning seems to be down to a very select few people as well and I am wanting to get rid of the opti and go to a 24x setup before they stop making the parts for them.
I know the LS controller can handle the engine and trans work and what I have not had much time to research is what programs are out there to tune gear ratios and any engine mods in the future.
An LS is awesome but I really love it when people see a modded LT1 making good power.
I need some help getting started in the write direction for this conversion and what all is involved. Already have a 97 timing cover on the engine so that part is covered.
I love to tinker and I would like to know from those who have done this swap what your experiences are with it? what write ups did you refer to? and how you like the tuning options when you just love to tinker and change gears and converters just because you can and you like changing it up every now and then to add power or change engine combo.
Going to let the Pros help get the tunes dialed in but really want to know more about the tuning and be able to use a controller that wont be obsolete for tuning in the next 10 years. Obviously I understand tech never stops evolving and we wont know what comes out down the road to replace current tech but it seems the LS stuff is sticking around for a bit longer. lol
I run an 80e via the 0411 LSX PCM and utilize a vortec cam sensor along with the 24x crank relucot in a 96 timing cover.
I followed a write up by merriam or something on here, but as long as you are slow and methodical with depin and repin, its not difficult at all.
The largest hiccup I had was wiring the coils correctly, but physically hooking them up wrong. IE, coil 1 was on cyl 3 etc #LTXproblems
