Cam/Valve Spring Replacement Hey Everyone. I'm currently rebuilding an LT1 to swap in my 3rd gen firebird. I had the heads at the machine shop getting a valve job and porting. They called me today and told me the springs I have are "too stiff" for the cam i'm planning to use.

Springs - Lunati 73925K5
The guy who called said the 155-160 of seat pressure (@1.78" install height) is too much for a hydraulic roller cam and will cause issues. Everything i've read has suggested these springs will be fine with this cam.
Can anyone here add some insight to this? Did i get the wrong springs for this cam? I have read through several threads and didn't see any issues with this spring pressure. I could always have the seat machined to accommodate a 1.85 install height if needed.

Those are excellent springs. Lloyd Elliott recommends/sells them all the time. I have them on my 218/224 cam installed at 1.780" per Lloyds advice.
They will work very well with the 503
You can always install them at 1.800" for a lower seat & open pressure, although again they will work very well with the 503.

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it. Its all sorted out now
I spoke with someone from Lunati and I ended up buying some 0.050 locks and had the spring seats machined to get the install height to 1.81, which is what they recommended. The install height came in at 1.72 initally so the locks and machining got them where they need to be!
