Not fully out of the woods yet as its not gone for a drive. But the turd fired up for the first time today. Still got to do the cooling system, driveshaft, torque arm and the sway bar. But it lives for the first time over 3 years it started up. Might need to go back and add a 1/4 turn to the lifter preload. Did 3/4 turn on the stock rockers but seems 1 full turn is the factory setting. But going to let it warm up when the cooling system is installed in the car. Then just work on a tune for the car as it started on a 95 B-Body tune.

To bad it did not last.....had debated pulling the heads but decided the enigne was out of a wrecked car. Anyways its got a major blown head gasket. I guess I should have pulled the heads. The curse of the turd continues.

I played with it some but its drinking coolant like nobodys business. Could run it for 1-2 mins if that and it would drink a whole gallon of coolant. That and you can open the steam pipe and it will send out steam for about 5 minutes. So with the other symptoms its got a blown head gasket. Engine came out of a wrecked car so you would think it had been running when crashed. Sure it was a risk. Its just outside of warranty so I now own it. Ugh dam the turd.

Make sure you get the head surfaces checked and milled if needed.

Could do that....I also have 3 sets of lt1 heads laying around. Some 374/561 and a le2 set of 643. Plus I guess the 561 set on the car.

Whatever head you decide to go with you need to check to ensure they're true, or you can find yourself in the same predicament.

Strap those le2 heads on for some extra power! As mentioned, 100% get whatever heads you bolt on checked for straightness and milled ! That is unfortunate the junkyard motor had a blown head gasket.

I am actually not even after power. Just want the car to run. Been on and off being screw over for about 10 years with this thing. 2-21-09 was the last time it actually ran right. Why I was hoping to be happy with a stock bolt on engine again.
