LT1 with a 700R4
I am new new to the LT1, I just purchased this LT1 with LT4 heads and a hot cam, I am in the process of installing this in my 76 C10. Has an aftermarket painless wiring harness, the kicker to this is the harness has a 4l60E setup. Will I be able to use my 700R that I have?
My 93 Camaro had a 4L60 (NO-E) transmission. It used a kickdown cable, a bracket, and used a different throttle body from all the other 94-97 f-bodies, because they came with the 4L60-E transmissions.
4L60 are basically 700r4 from what I've learned.
I think if you get a 93 f-body throttle body, bracket, and kick down cable it will work and obviously you can't connect the wiring to the transmission.
If you need a throttle body I have a 93 58mm Speed and Marine throttle body that was rebuilt and repolished when I was going to reuse it on my car. I have the bracket that was powdercoated black too. They are for sale. The kickdown cable you can get on eBay.
Your 700R4, depending on year may have a 2 pin VSS connector in the tailshaft and a single connector for the torque converter lockup (square connector with 4 holes, just 2 pins in it, IIRC). You'll need to find a way to control that circuit to lock/ unlock the TC. I think that can be done with an unused function in the tune/ corresponding pins from the PCM to command lockup and disengage lockup on throttle change (TPS Delta of say 6-7%). One easy (but less attractive way) to do it is to use an ECM from a 93. 93 LT1 cars came with a 700R4, they just called it a 4L60 (no "E"). 93 trans had the TC lockup control and VSS along with the engine/ trans wiring harness in it. Downside is burning chips instead of flashing the PCM to change the tune.
How far off from starting the motor are you? Sending the PCM off for a tune should take more than a couple of weeks turnaround time. Might be worth sending the PCM off now; that way, you can start the truck AND drive it if the motor is sounding good.
Look up "moehorsepower" on this forum and send him a PM. He'd be able to tune the PCM for ya.
Best of luck!!

thanks kw for the response. The computer is already tuned, just don’t know if it was for a 4l60e which the harness is set up for of if the previous owner was running a 700r4.
