Default Flashing CEL, code P0301.

For starters the car is a 97 Z28, stock minus CAI, air foil and catback. Anyways, I decided to drive the car this afternoon and it has been sitting for about a year, I have driven to work a handful of times during that period. I also have made sure and kept the tank full with fuel treatment while sitting etc... and while driving today the cel was flashing sometimes and sometimes not. I ran the codes with my scanner and got a Cylinder 1 missifre (P0301). 6th gear feels like the engine is gonna jump out of the car it misfires so bad. Otherwise it runs fine, has plenty of power and idles fine. Checking tomorrow for a bad plug wire or plug. I don’t think it’s the opti because it runs too good, plus people blame to opti too soon! But I figured someone would know is this a textbook case of the opti on its way out??

If the wire and plug check out good, then you'll need to pull the cap off the opti and see if the contact is burned up.

Luckily the plug wire on the #1cylinder had somehow disconnected. Plugged it back in and problem solved. For sure wanna change the oil now giving running on 7 cylinders for a few miles and the car has been sitting for a long period.
