Default Camshaft selection

I am getting to the end oh my LT1 383 stroker build and it's time to pick a cam. I had the block splayed to 4 bolt main and machined for stroker crank. The heads are ported and have 2.0 intake 1.95 exhaust valves. Flow bench 250 scfm intake and just over 200 on exhaust. Just ordered the fully forged Scat steel crank H beem rods and Weisco forged pistons and will be running about 11.1 compression. Also rockers are 1.6 roller. Edlebrock LT1 intake. I am also running the BW T56 trans. Any ideas where I can get info to pick a cam for this setup? Thanks in advance.

Chamber size after porting? What lift was it peaking at on intake? Cam choice's IVC will have a lot to do with DCR and will mean more than the SCR number. Any plans for a 100-150 shot? Sounds like your piston choice may have taken boost off the table. And with the exhaust valve at 97.5% of intake size and exhaust port flowing at least 82% of intake you're probably hurting power potential with those heads. With a splayed mains 383 I'd have considered heads with a 58cc chamber and 2.00 / 1.56 valves with a cam in the mid 230s- low 240s duration or 2.02 / 1.6 valves with a cam in the mid-240s- low 250s duration and spun it to 6800 on a forged assembly.

All that said, Lloyd can come up with something to make pretty good use of what you have with those heads.

I do plan on adding boost in a few years and will change heads piston and cam at that time. I let a local machine shop do the heads and am not to happy especially after talking to the guys at Elliot's and saw what they could do. It is what it is at this time. I really dont want to put NOS to it because its so harsh but you never know!

Lloyd will steer you straight...IMHO you can save some $ and not get the Edelbrock intake, no gain in power with one...maybe you will lose some

are you sure on the exhaust valve size? I would think it would be 1.55. Never heard of anyone going that big on an exhaust valve

Loyd Elliot is the man to ask, you tell him all the info on the car and he will pick you the right cam.

off topic, do you still tune LT1s? If so, what cams have you seen make good power?

depends on what car, is it a B or F body, B body for torque would be in the 22x-23x duration range, F body for good power, a 23x-24x on a 110 LSA, but it depends what you want, more strip or street.

Thanks for all the input guys. I already have the intake it was on the car when I got it. I am going to have Lloyd look at the heads and do another flow bench but yes exhaust valves are 1.6. I still got a ways to go but will post when it completed. Thanks again!
