Default Starting over soon

Years ago my camaro z28 had a bunch of work done to it and looking to get back into it. Will list what all I did to it and here is the reason I threw in the towel. Had a Ed Wright basic mail tune before the blower and other parts installed engine ran good no issues. Trailered it two hrs away to a shop that said yep we can tune it(owner has a mustang with a ton of hp forget exact amount after years later.. anyhow I signed a waiver and wrote down every upgrade I did. Came back the next day after not really being able to communicate with them. So we just showed up out of nowhere. Long story short they tell me the engine keeps cutting out and they have no idea why.. so tuner says let’s go for a ride I will show you. Now at this point I was excited and worried what was wrong with the engine and didn’t noticed the gas gauge. We drive down the street and a couple mins it’s fine then it acts like a huge miss and wants to stall. He tells me we did everything we can and says total I owe him is $1000.00. I was like huh! I planned to drive my car back home and you don’t know why it’s acting up? Basically said I pay them or I leave it until I pay them. It’s closing time and they want to go home. I get in the camaro and fire it up and notice gas is on empty and we are far away from a gas station but got some gas. Camaro seems to be running great a mile down the street then at 65mph with a semi on my butt it shuts off and I swing off onto the side of the highway. Won’t start. My buddy and I check everything over and see nothing wrong. I call the shop and finally they answer and I tell them hey I just paid you a grand and I’m a mile away and my camaro is dead. Owner tells me what do you want me to do I’m going home. I said come get my camaro. He said can’t help ya so I called a tow. So a hr goes by before a tow truck arrives and we head home. Anyone in my spot could think of a dozen things to do. But they had my money and my signature on paperwork, name, phone number, address... got it home and I tested everything and noticed my brand new walbro pump was shot because they ran it on the dyno more less on empty for who know how long. This pump didn’t have any miles on it and worked fine before the tune. 30,000 miles on the motor and a mile of mileage on my new setup. Didn’t know what other damage was done so pulled motor and tore it apart and lost interest and life got to busy. So sold every.

Stock block
ported/polished heads no idea on flow
Crane 1.6trr an hardware
ported intake for 58mm throttlebody
delete mods
58mm TB
V1 S-trim with smaller pulley good for 8psi
High Flow MAF
42lb SVO
walbro 255 pump
Ed Wright Tune- dyno tune
Alky injection
midlength headers
ypipe
off road pipe
SLP loudmouth exhaust
160 stat
Manual fan switch
Auto lite plugs think 103 or something?
Delteq system
its been almost 15 years so might have forgot some other mods. But you get the idea. Made 400rwhp and 383tq. If it would have been tuned correctly and actually ran I bet it would have put more down. They said they spent hrs on it...

So I have talked to a buddy of mine and he is looking for a stick LT1 engine and tranny for me. Sure wish I didn’t part mine out and sell everything ages ago.

I want the same build I had just alittle more. My camaro is a 1994 z28 garage queen and only has 30,000 miles on it. Not using it for that track just a weekend toy. Here is the list of parts I will upgrade.

Punch stock block out to a 355.
LE2 or 3 head setup
Port intake for TB and runners
6” Forged Scat I beams with arp bolts
Wiseco pistons that are budget pistons. Part #PTS509A talked with Lloyd and he said these would be fine even though not blower pistons. I don’t see the little bit I will drive it and get on it once awhile being a issue with a good tune.
Stock crank
1.6rr- hardware, pushrods
58mm TB
Blower again with 8psi..
FMIC like last one I never used
Maybe alky again
42lb or bigger injectors
255 walbro
not sure on plugs an wires as hate opti. But torquehead is expensive.
Timing chain upgrade
New bearings
Freezeplugs
New stock oil pump
All new seals and gaskets
delete mods
160 stat
reuse SLP loudmouth, ypipe, off road pipe
midlength headers again maybe long tubes
Transcooler again
Arp head and intake bolts probably
maybe a bigger stall then 2800 I had.
Find someone to tune it correctly this time.
So it’s a somewhat budget build.

Where are you located? Here in Texas we have a few good tuners.

Also, you wrote a novel and didn't post one picture? Come on man... post a pic!

Haha Will post pics once I get a motor and trans going. Factory paint is spotless 👍. Only thing wrong with it is the head liner is sagging and small crack in dash pad from removing gauges to sell overlay but will fix both eventually.

Wow that’s a nice setup but want to build my own engine though thanks man. I am curious if my brake and fuel lines are any good inside them? Since they have been sitting for fifteen years. Fuel is empty of course but not brake fluid.

Long tubes for sure and definitely bigger injectors, minimum 60lb's and dual walbro's no inline pump...dual 255/340's. No way around the ignition system for cheap. You may get lucky and find someone ditching their coil over plug stuff on the cheap.

I got your pm thanks. A coworker also has a LS1 harness, pcm, ecu he might sell me them and I could pick up coils somewhere so that would put a decent dent in that. Sounds good about the fuel system setup and yes still have stock lines. Do you think my 255 Walbro is any good still? I want to use a LT4 hot cam as don’t want anything with to much lift or drive ability issue. Lloyd said he could custom grind a cam for me 223/231.561/571 112 LSA.

Delteq system worked great but sold that and don’t want to mess with a opti spark plug setup on another motor either.
