Default Almost had it....

Keep having issues with my 96 WS6.

Bone stock, have been doing alot of maintenance. Suspension, brakes, blah blah. No issues there. Mechanically, Ive replaced opti, both cats, EVAP valve on intake, entire AC/heat and cooling system, motor mounts, front hubs, o2 sensors, plugs and wires, I think that might be it.

I keep having an intermittent misfire. Its either random or #3, never any other cylinder. Since I replaced my EVAP valve on intake, Ive started getting EGR code, p0400. And Today, I got p1441 for the EVAP again. That one is new, I was getting the other one, p0441 I believe? That one hasnt come back. Im at a loss to where I should start poking around next.

Just getting frustrated. This isnt supposed to be my daily driver, but **** heads with no insurance driving like retards caused me to total the wifes car. So, she got my gas sipper, and I scrambled to get this on the road back in July. Its been running fine for the most part, but Im just getting tired of the SES lights being on. Not wanting to get it tuned just yet. I have no power adders whatsoever, so figured that would be a waste. Unless it gives me better MPG, I dont give a **** about emissions, or smelly exhaust. If it gives me better mileage, Ill go ahead and do it, and start yanking all that **** out.

Ha, I guess I just talked myself into doing it. Unless yall think I should keep struggling trying to mess with this stupid emissions crap?

I do have a few questions I couldnt find answers too. Mainly finding a good source to browse TSBs for the firechickens and camerows. Keep finding **** hidden behind paywalls, or generalized crap.

And, where would one get a new ABS module? I was getting some weird codes after the hubs, something about right front dump? Forgot the codes, and havent been back to buddys shop to use his fancy reader. He was suggesting module because of the few codes that popped up, and with how much issues we were having just trying to connect to the damn thing.

Is this at WOT or part throttle or both? Cruising RPM it could end up being a faulty EGR valve. WOT can be an array of things like plug wires, fuel pump or opti. Won't say coil or ICM because usually when those go out the car just flat out won't start, it it'll die and won't start until it cools down a spell.

Cruising, at freeway speeds is when the EGR code comes up. The P1441 came on this morning after stopping to get a redbull and cigarettes. Turned on, Opened pack, noticed light came on. I didnt clear it yet, I checked hoses first. I had to reuse the old one that goes to throttle body. Its kinda fudged, I rigged it with electrical tape. Replacement I bought is too large on the EVAP side, I guess its for the trucks? By rigged, the rubber ends are falling apart. I taped them up best I could, seemed good. But rubber is all mushy and sticky, maybe its clogging the new EVAP? I would say its not leaking from my tape job. I didnt blow out the line going to the gas tank, seemed clean at the fitting and inside OE switch. Or valve, whatever. I have a new valve for the canister side, but havent done it yet, was going to blow lines out then. Jack is at buddy's house. In laws dont like me working on car in driveway, and we got speeders down our street all the time. So I can only work on the car at his house, which is on the other side of Houston. Yay....

ABS code always comes on after a bit of driving. Goes off every start. Sometimes comes on right away, sometimes takes a bit. Gonna try and get to buddys shop today, but might have to wait till saturday.

Just getting research and **** done to try and tackle it Saturday or maybe take Friday off. Trying to avoid going to one car at all, wife is preggo and due in January. Thats the main thing keeping me from getting it tuned I guess. Would be down for a bit.

Check all hoses and lines. Any old tired rotted lines replace. Also look for any holes I'm lines or wired that critters could've chewed up. I find this a lot on day to day basis with cars coming to the shop for repairs. If you tune the car you can ditch most of the ****. EVAP and EGR can be turned off as well as down steam O2's. Personally If it's not a visual inspection thing in your state I'd ditch it all. I did long ago. Same can be done with ABS but if you want to retain it check for worn hub assemblies, broken or chaffed wiring etc. Especially any wire that is attached to a moving part like a wire that is connected to a lower control arm.

I havent checked lines under body, but what I can see without crawling underneath it, looks good. All the hard plastic lines look good so far except the one from TB to EVAP. Going back to auto parts to see if they even make a proper replacement. I havent found one yet.

I havent found any signs of critters yet. I did on my other red 96 that is now chopped in pieces. Probably crushed by now. Kinda sad. Anyways, EVAP, AIR, EGR can all be done away with. Theyre supposed to do visuals, but I goto shops that dont care. ******* guy put my car as a V6 last inspection. Didnt open the hood, check lights, horn, nothing. Just hooked up, jammed on the keyboard, and gave me a pass. Not sure what they will do in 2021. Theyre doing away with the dyno inspections I hear.

Anyone have any idea what they will do with OBDII cars that are 25 years old? Houston Texas by the way. Grapevine saying 2020 theyre doing away with all the dyno testing requirements, shops can get into inspections easier, unlimited stickers or something like that. Dont know **** about the bureaucratic crap. Been curious how they will treat OBDii cars.

How common are bad ABS modules on these? We are talking a 23yr old car. I dont really care for it, just dont like my dash having orange lights. Only cars ive hydroplaned in had ABS and traction control. I have alot of ideas and plans for the car, but since its a daily driver, I need it running good, and as little dash lights as possible for my internal sanity.

Is LT1tuning still good? The minister guy?
