Transmission swap

Hey guys so I got a “new” 4l60e because the clutch pack for 3-4 went out on my old one, I’m wanting to swap the transmissions in my garage/shop and was wondering do I need to pull the whole dang engine and transmission out? Or can I just drop it from under the car? From my usual understanding I can just drop it from the car but wanted to make sure...

Get the car decently high, and yes you can drop the trans pretty easily. A ATV/motorcycle jack works well under the trans pan.

Pull starter, disconnect flex plate, yank DS, make mess, and then remove the trans bolts to engine ( you will want a lot of extensions and swivels)

Hey reviving this thread, I can use the torque converter from my current transmission that went out and put it in the “new” one that I’m swapping in?

I would make sure you have it professionally flushed prior to installing in your "new" trans.

Yeah, it’s not something I’ve ever done with replacing a trans. I’ve heard of having them flushed but never have done it. Right now would be a great time for a converter upgrade.

Ok so Say I’m going to go with a new converter, I’m thinking a 2500 stall would be a good place to go? I seen B&M have a 2400 stall and it looks good so far with the reviews.... and doing so of swapping the converter is there anything else I need to do? (Tune, hardware, ect..) I’m just starting to get into cars so hence the questions, I’m assuming this is a good place for questions
