Look what I found in between the ac compresser and radiator

Will this cause restrictions in air flow getting to the radiator?

I can't tell what that is from the pic but anything that would Hinder Airflow could cause a heating problem.

Yeah It was plastic and paper towels in there. There still debris in there that I need to remove. Hopefully this is the reason why my temp was slowly climbing while cruising.

Anything that prevents airflow from moving efficiently through the radiator is going to Hinder how it cools.

Hopefully that plastic was the culprit.

I agree. It's like having a bag over your head.

This gotta be part of the reason Im having slow rise in temp while cruising. It's obvious lol. I'm surprise to find this on accident 😂 but who knows how long that been there.

Alrite guys so i remove all that junk, but there still some debris on the radiator, I don't want to damage the fins. What's the best way to clean it while in the car? Can't I just use a vacuum? Oh yeah and my temp is still climbing while cruising, but stop when at a light. I tested the thermostat in a pot of boiling water and it open up no problem.

I've always been a fan of using compressed air to clean a radiator but with it still in the car and with the condenser on it that's going to be hard.

Yeah seem like am gonna have to take it out to clean it. Sheesh. I wonder if that thermostat is not working properly inside the motor. Yea I know it opened in the boiling pot. But it's a different world in the engine. Also my resorvoir is overfilled. When cold the level is at hot full.

to reiterate, I bought a red devil river....bricked my pcm because the connections in the wire are crap

This what the pcm temp is seeing.

And this what the temp gauge is showing.

And also while driving to work Today I had the scanner hooked up to show live data. I noticed this too while warming up that my temp would drop suddenly. It kept dropping to - 40 then back to 180, even while cruising it would show - 40 what does that mean? When I got to work my temp was at 204 in park but kept dropping to - 40 then back to 204. Is that normal range for a 160 stat?

Eh, that's all over the place as if it's a connection issue or a bum sensor. Way too irradic to be normal operation. Mechanically the engine isn't capable of changing that drastically.

I think that temp sensor on the wp is bad. I just replaced that last month, unless it was a defect or got damaged during shipping. I'm surprised the pcm hasn't thrown a ses light.

This the connection to iac sensor in the intake. Will this cause problems with the temp sensor since both harnesses are connected.

I can’t say for sure whether it’ll effect the temp sensor but it’s still clearly a problem that needs to be addressed. So... as I always say, start with fixing what you know is broken.

I am gonna start on this later today and take it to a shop to get that wire fix cause I don't know how to fix that myself (Not good with wires) . I'm also gonna expect the thermostat cause of a lingering thought when the last time I tested it in the pot, I had a 180 Stat in there as well. I notice when the 160 stat starting opening is when the 180 started opening. Right there kinda tells me that that 160 Stat is opening up pretty slow. Don't know why Though.

Are you sure you have the correct temp sensor in the w/p? That is a different part number than the one in the cylinder head. I'm guessing the wires pictured are to the water pump temp sensor? You need to follow those to see if they are damaged. It's also possible the bare wire is grounding out causing your erratic readings. Simply wrap electrical tape around bare areas for a quick fix and see if that helps.
