Default Boosted lt1

I have a 94 z28 lt1 with upgraded injectors, dual throttle body, Comp camshaft, intake and manifold, 3" exhaust and looking to boost it. I'm looking to spend 4-5k but having a hard time finding kits or manifolds for the lt1. I'm fine with supercharging or turbocharging the car and plan on doing it myself any suggestions?

The only S/C kit that I am aware of is Procharger. From a turbo perspective there's a member on here that makes some trick kits but forget his username. I will say this...Ive had two buddies now who have had boosted stock bottom end LT1s and neither car was impressive, unfortunately you just can't throw much boost at these motors with the stock internals. I've raced both cars more times than I can count and my simple heads/cam car was always faster than both. I'd either save a ton of cash and get some heads for a ~400 wheel setup or if you seek more I would do it right and build a forged 355 or the like to accompany the turbo or supercharger but we are talking much much more than $4-5k all said and done. Not sure what cam you now have but it may or may not be ideal for boost so that's another item to consider.

lt1boost.net is the last "kit" maker left in the LT1 market.

Vortech S-trim will fit LT1 that’s what I had years ago. Picked up a used head unit and bracket, pulleys, oil line, some tubing. Then got a FMIC and piping and hardware off eBay. Wasn’t to bad price wise back then but now days people jack prices up since certain parts are hard to come by. I was just lucky the unit worked when it arrived since you never know.

Hmmm okay so you're thinking just build the lower end for an N/A monster engine lol?

Nah, just saying that stock bottom end LT1s at safe boost levels generally do not produce impressive numbers and in my experience a simple and much cheaper heads/cam setup will make for a faster car. If you wanna boost it I’d do it right a build a nice forged 355 or the like and go turbo or the procharger route. I kinda want to pick up a second LT1 and go that route myself.

I think the only way you’d get by with more than average boost on a SBE LT1 would be E85, a very well done custom cam and a dead nuts perfect dyno tune. My personal preference for boosting it would be to turbo it. So much is being done with turbo tech these days that info is everywhere and people in shops are messing with them everywhere. LT1boost does do some very nice looking kits.

Yes it fit fine. Google vortech S- trim for 93-97 LT1 and you can see pics. As for the whole kit like the air to water intercooler deal might be different but myself I would never go that route. I would just use FMIC alone or add alky.

Stock bottom end turbo LT1s have been in the 9s, not uncommon for them to be in the 10s. Couple people have said they have dynoed at 650hpish on the stock bottom end, and I know there is a guy in Phx ran his stock bottom end at 600hp and ragged on it pretty hard while daily driving it. The key to keeping a turbo car of any kind alive is the tune. That is a make or break when dealing with boost. A H/C car will be easier all around with a lot less money invested, but a properly setup and tuned boosted stock LT1 will freight train any H/C car, the key work there is properly set up.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...r-adder-2.html

If a stock bottom end can handle H/C power levels, it can handle that exact same power level with a turbo at the very least, but reading about everyone's experiences they can handle much more.

And ya this thread is a little old
