Default lt1 is killing me

like the title says this lt1 trans am is killing me. my wife has wanted a trans am since we started dating and now married 8 years i finally got her one. she wanted this 94 patriot red metallic trans am gt she seen and i caved in. its cammed, roller rockers, dual valve springs, one piece push rods, lifters, ported and milled heads, tuned my moe, 3200 stall, poly engine and trans mounts, pcm over the valve cover wires, tr55gp plugs all gapped at .36, no cel is on or coming on, there is equal heat on all the header tubes yet i drive it and it still acts like there is a miss. when we first got it she pulled like a champ. fired up fine ran awesome. all the sudden one day it runs like crap. fuel injectors have been flowed and cleaned. fuel filter has been replaced. i have no checked fuel pressure. what it does is when you drive it it acts like one of those expeditions that runs like crap on the road does the whole puh puh puh puh puh puh puh puh going down the road. is that signs of a bad opti? ive shut the lights off and checked all the wires and see no grounding or burning on the wires. checked all wire connections. ive taken a water bottle and poked a hole in it checking every header tube along with temp gun and all seem to be equal. not sure where to go now. its driving me nuts because she just wants to drive it. any direction would be appreciated.

Possible bad gas, try pumping it out and add fresh gas. but before you do that install a gas gauge on the rail. research what the pressure should be on that car. Also clean the MAP sensor and TB (with spray) and dirty MAP will do the same. Do not touch the sensor itself with your hand because oil from your skin will foul it.

I think you meant MAF, not MAP. Have you scanned it and watched the O2’s? Have you pulled the plugs? What do they look like? Vacuum leaks? The more info you can post the better

also plugs did look good not fouled and not bright white. i also sprayed for vac leaks and motor did not change tone or rpm. i dont have a scanner to watch o2 sensors but the local mechanic does so worst comes to worse which ive never done i may have to take it to a mechanic.

Screw that I have faith in you, just take your time. You'll have a big smile when YOU fix it.
By the way just because there's no service light on doesn't mean codes are not present.

Scan9495 works great and it’s “free”. All you need is a laptop and an OBD1 cable.

^^^ this, It really sounds like you have a wire jumping fire under light load. I’d check them over well but just to be safe it may be a good idea to just put a really good set of new wires on there.

I miss the old days, mechanical fuel pump on the side of the motor, 2 adjustment screws on the carburetor, set the timing with a gun and drive off.

Another +1 to check this. Also, I didnt see what wires you have, just that they are OTVC, shitty wires will fail after getting a few heat cycles and not actually be burnt. Mine just recently did this, ran fine when I drove it to down town, left car at work for a while. Started and drove it around parking garage to keep it lubed. Drove it home few weeks later, when almost home starts running rough as ****. Engine light came on right away, but OBII is different in that regard, OBDI didnt always throw codes. Took hard failures, atleast my TPI Firebird was that way.

Yeah I've had the same set of MSD wires on my car FOREVER and they've done well. I wouldn't give it a second thought to buy another set.

Use your meter and check the Ohms on each wire, they should all read the same. While the meter leads are hookup, wiggle the wire to see if they lost connection internally. Also check the brand of wires your using to see what the manufacture says the ohms per length should be.

For instance, mine are 10 1/2 long, each at 913 ohms. The lower the ohms the better the spark.
