I used tin snips. Much faster and cleaner.

Safer to. After using a cut off wheel to do it, the tin snips would certainly be a better way to go.

The great thing about the trap door is if anything goes wrong, you can actually service the fuel pump on the side of the road.

I know I've had to.

yeah using a cutoff wheel is certainly sketchy, i made sure to cover my interior with heavy blankets to protect everything from the sparks and as soon as i made my first cut i let it sit for a couple minutes in case there were any fuel vapors could clear out before continuing.

I've got a body saw that makes pretty quick work of sheet metal. It's also got a depth set on it as well so hopefully 🤞🏼 I can't cut too deep and fudge anything when I do it.

same, my car has become all but a racecar and it's edging closer and closer to it. I don't like to hack anything but when you do things tastefully it's not really a hack job. Plus, like I said, the further this car goes the less I worry about what's getting cut as long as it's done neatly. Eventually the cage will go in but I will have the nicest cage I can buy or have built in the car because at the end of the day the car I guess had become sentimental to me after nearly 20 years of ownership. Heck I got married in this car, the drive to the cabin afterwards was real nice!!
