Vacuum pumps Anyone running a vacuum pump?!?!?!? I am interested but I don't know much about them, what too much vacuum would be, and what to little is. I understand there are serious downsides if you run too much vacuum. I'm looking to increase a little horsepower. I have a high compression 383 with over 12.1. If anyone knows a lot about this it would be much appreciated thank you!
Money to HP gain ratio is gonna be pretty lousy.

I take it this isn't your daily driver we're talking about and you have done away with the PCV system. Most racers uses vacuum pumps because they're running low tension rings and the vacuum pump helps to keep a better ring seal and ventilates the crankcase. The vacuum pumps also ventilate the blow-by gases through a breather can.

I used one on an NA LS7 setup. Showed a 3whp loss on the dyno but definitely helped take some load off the motor by evacuating the crankcase better than an atmosphere vented setup. Felt a difference on the street.
