LT1 crank key

LT1 crank key Been a while, switching from 97 to 94 motor. Does the crank key go in the first hole or second ( first being hole closest to crank, second being closest to end of crank facing forward)? I have both keys, 94-95 and 96-97.
The keyway closest to the snout is for a harmonic balancer because they are required to go on one way. Since the LT1 is balanced internally in the front it uses a damper and it is not required to press the hub onto the crank at any specific position. The inner keyway behind the balancer keyway is for a timing crank gear, and on 96/97’s also for the reluctor gear for CPS.
