Default Lunati cam or AI.

A little info on my current situation and then onto the thoughts on both cams. I bought a 385 LT1 already assembled with AFR 195 Competition heads, Lunati voodoo cam, efi connection and supposedly around 11.2 compression. Running a TH350w/ Edge 3800 converter. The cam is 243/251@.050, .597/.565 lift, intake has 1.6 rocker and exhaust has 1.5 and 110 lsa.

Now sitting in my garage I have my AI 200cc heads and cam from my previous 355 build. I don't have a cam card for the AI but I do have some numbers from when checked the cam. Its around a 232/234 and lift I believe was in the .570 range with 1.6 rockers. I have some timing events from when i checked it... @.050 Intake opens 9.5 BTDC and closes 42 ABDC, exhaust open 53 bbdc and close 1 ATDC.....Been 11+ years so I'm trying to get info from old emails.

I've tuned the car and it runs and drives good considering the size of the cam. I'd just like some opinions on swapping from the lunati to the AI cam or just leave well enough alone. Not a daily driver btw.

I'd do AI all day/every day. Especially since the heads are larger. One issue is you need to find out what the combustion chamber sizes are as compared to your piston to see where compression ratio would sit if those AI heads were initially for a 350.

Yes, there is a lot of unknowns to figure out if I want to swap heads. That is one reason I thought of just swapping the cam out but Ive also been very tempted to swap the whole setup over. The intake was also ported by AI and my current setup runs an LT4 Edelbrock intake.

Sounds like the Lunati 20080723 cam which is ground with aggressive Voodoo lobes (very close to the XFI stuff). If street manners are a concern, the AI would be the better cam although it's a step backwards in terms of topend power. I'd keep the Voodoo cam if you're fine with revving it out to 7-7.2k.

Either way you go on the cam, I'd swap to that A.I. Intake in a heartbeat

hard to say about switching heads without knowing what CC the chambers are.

AFR replied back to my email about my heads and the combustion chamber is 64cc. Assuming I have a stock deck height, .040 cometic head gasket and -5cc piston that puts me around stock 10.5 compression.

I did hit the 1/8th mile track this weekend with the current setup. Best et was a 7.249 and best MPH was 95.10. Ran three 7.2x's in a row.
