Compatible heads?

Compatible heads? I blew a head gasket on my 1997 c2500 only to find the heads have been cracked for a while. Or at least it looks that way considering I didn't let it over heat that far(?) I found a new set but I'm not sure if they are 305 heads or 350 heads and I'm having having trouble looking up the part number to find out the specs. Does anyone know or know of a site I can use to make sure these heads are a direct replacement? I have done some research so I know if they are 305 heads they won't work but I'm having trouble figuring out what they are

Also I have found a set of performance heads but my truck has 248k miles and the tops on the pistons already look rough, still good, but rough. Would I be better off with these than a factory replacement or would that likely make to much compression and lead to problems later
Locate the casting numbers on the heads and go to a website like this:

go to a junkyard a take a set off a 96-99 350 would be my thought or better yet pull the whole motor for less than a new set of heads. buying new to me doesn't make much sense on a truck like that
