Default 4l60-e tv cable?

Pardon my ignorance, but my 1994 LT1 Formula has a freshly rebuilt 4L60-E. It also has a TV cable. I thought they did not require one due to being computer controlled. It does have a 4 pin connector.

I thought these did not require a TV? Does it perform another function?

Anyway, after the rebuild, I noticed that the cable is non functional. The throttle opens and closes and the TV cable bracket moves with it, but slides over the cable and the cable stays extended. In full pressure mode. The transmission does not pull the cable back into the transmission. Like a spring is missing or something.

the trans shifts and downshifts great. Feels like a shift kit. Very firm. I always suspected a shady rebuild.

Im wondering if the TV had been internally deleted and set to full pressure like they used to do on the TH350’s back in the day.

Any advice?

That is strange, 1993 had a 4L60 (NO E) which still had a TV cable. In 1994 GM went to the 4L60E and they no longer had a TV Cable. The 4L60E also had a connector with a lot more pins than just 4. The harness and computer were different between 93-94. I have had 3 94 cars and 1 93 car but have worked on dozens over the years and have never seen a 94 with a TV Cable. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Could the year be wrong? Like what’s listed on the registration?

While I’m looking into the year discrepancy, let’s assume it’s a 93. What do you think the issue with the TV cable is? It does not pull back into the transmission. It’s also acting as if the line pressure is high. Not low like it should be based on the cable in idle mode.

Well, sorry to have wasted your time, but I’m a moron. It’s the cruise control. This is a new project car me and my son are learning about. Thank you all.
