Default 96 LT1 Rundown

Hey guys, I just got my hands on a clean LT1 350 supposedly out of a 96 Camaro. It has casting marks GM5.7LG SCI , G6 327 , 10125327 (pretty sure - last one is hard to read) (from limited info i could find the buyer appears to be telling the truth) to be using this in a 78 Malibu with a T-10 that I already have. I have my heart set on a carb swap and I know this requires the pricey GM manifold, also a block off plate on the timing cover? Is everything else the same as roller SBC from that point on? (Like the distributor, headers, etc) Need a quick rundown on this. I have searched and done some reading but just wanted to start a build specific thread. Going to start teardown soon.

Also is the LT1 intake setup worth anything to sell? I have the whole thing including ecu and harness although i am not sure that it is all functional.

I want to do a cam and possibly some head work so I could use some suggestions in this department as well. I would like to see around 350-400 hp if this is easily achievable. It has aluminum heads with some odd numbers stamped in, not sure if they are reman? 15961 and 15861 they dont seem like factory numbers to me.

Just looking for any info anyone has relating to any of these questions or casting numbers. Thanks guys

Pull the valve covers off and there will be a casting number inside. I think 96 had 561 or 526 heads. I can't recall correctly. Those have a bit less meat for porting than the 643 or 374 heads. I'm sure you can get a little cash for the lt1 intake. I'd take it, but i just picked one up for a porting job.

Ok thanks for the tip i am going to be free maybe today, if not tomorrow and will look into those heads. I am pretty sure this is a roller motor correct? Also it's definitely a 350? All i could really find was heresay on the internet.

I will have the intake, harness, ecu, etc available if you are truly interested i can work on setting that stuff aside sooner than later.

Also last night i did some digging. Pretty sure LT1 accessory drive is the way to go? In otherwords, not worth trying to mess with gen1 accessories?

the cast code for a lt1 is 10125327 i believe. so i think you do have a lt1 5.7l. The vettes had a 4 bolt main, everything else had mostly 2 bolts. The lt1 is a reverse flow design. Meaning the coolant flows from WP thru heads, then block. Keep that in mind

ok let me get this straight. I can run my factory water pump but just need the front cover block off plate?
(Also need the intake manifold, carb and distributor obviously.) Also a different harmonic balancer only because of no timing marks? Is there any other big ticket items i will need to make this work?

I saw a pretty good write up on this but some of the links were dead, its 10 years old and i didnt wanna bring it back from the dead. Also i see some are running elec. WP which is throwing me off. I think i can use the factory one correct?

If it's a 350, it will have a big '327' cast into the side of the block. Yes, all Gen II's are rollers.
