I am getting ready to install the headers on my LT4 and would like to replace plugs and wires while there is some access, I am considering Summit 8.5 wires and need help on looks. What are you guys running for a stock engine with bolt ons?

I've had good luck with Accel Extreme 9000 wires and headers. I have them in stock, PM for $.

 

Not sure what you mean by access. You can’t replace plugs with the headers/manifolds not in place because you’ll never get the headers/manifolds back into place due to the plugs being in the way, and you don’t want to risk breaking them by trying to get headers/manifolds in place. You also do not need wires that large in diameter. It will do nothing but create clearance issues between wires and primaries. Just stick with 8mm at the most.

 

Would the factory wire retainers with headers? As for access I thought it would be easier to replace the spark plugs now that I will have access to a car lift

 

Depends on the headers whether or not they are better reached from the top or bottom. Factory retainers will work fine as long as you do not use 8.5mm wires. 8mm is actually pushing it, but it is doable.

 

If the factory hardware works then I will just replace the plugs. I was not aware you can add headers and keep the factory wire hardware.
