Cloytes Single Roller Timing set
Looks like the extreme duty LT4 set has been discontinued , wish i would have bought one when I bought my hotcam almost a decade ago... Anyway, I'm guessing the link belt style chains should be avoided. The only other thing I've seen is a comp cams set but it's about 3x the price of the Cloytes....
Thanks!

i am putting together what I call an extreme budget L31 right now. That is a used GM L31 single roller. It still has very little slop in in. Move the crank and the cam moves almost instantly. I put a new GM 94666492 roller cam I bought a few years ago and used GM Mahle LT1 flat tops in this one along with a nodular iron crank out of a L30 305 marine engine that had 75 hours on it when it was left with water in the block during winter. Those L30 pistons and the LT1 pistons with PM rods, rings and bearings were within 1-2 grams. The L30 pistons were as much as 3-4 grams different between each. The LT1 pistons were almost dead even across the board. I could have had it all balanced but defeats the purpose of this exercise. Literally a L31 core I am bringing back as a spare parts engine, shooting for ~330-350 hp. So far I have bought a set of Clevite A aluminum STD main bearings, the rest was laying around the shop.
