Fuel/ignition
Q1 - should I upgrade to the torque head 24X system before spraying a 150 shot
Q2 - or is it fine to run my upgraded MSD ignition and spray away.
Q3 - my fuel lines cracked. Would it be worth converting the fuel system to run E85 or pump gas? (Flex fuel)
Q4 - and if I convert to flex fuel should I stay away from spraying nitrous while running E85? (Since the only really strong point are the pistons and not the rest of the bottom end)
THANKS HOSS, appreciate any info
At a 150 shot, your main concern is fuel supply and quality. Second is a strong spark that can be retarded when spraying.
Your fuel pump, lines, and injectors better be in perfect or perfect and upgraded condition. While E85 has good detonation resistance, it takes more E85 fuel to supply an equal amount of horsepower. Personally, I would stick with 93+ octane gas and tune for what you will have in the tank most of the time. You never know when the need to spray will arise.
IF your Opti is functioning properly and your coil is strong (wires good too), you don’t need a Torqhead or anything like that. You do need a way to retard the spark when spraying.
I would research more and talk to a professional. I like to run a “wet” system (gas and nitrous together) and run an ignition box for the retard. Remember, fuel and spark need to be in top condition to spray. I also always run a solenoid that does not allow spray unless I have the proper fuel pressure (as a safety).
Nitrous is the best “bang for the buck”, but it is NOT cheap if you do it right.
