Question NA LT1 Build?

Wondering if the LT1 can make 700whp all motor? And at what point do I need to start using radials to grip since I'll run my Kumho PS31 for touge and track days.

A quick google reveals a few 396 LT1s in the high 500's

AFAIK, no one has done 700 to the wheels on an NA LT1. Unless you count nitrous.

Then is 700 to the crank possible with a turbo gen 2 LT1?

Bad Cherry is a 96 build. Twin turbo, powerglide, Dart block which IIRC is partially filled and runs 8's....but its not a LT1 block

I'm expecting the answer to be no but I'm gonna ask anyway

Can I swap an 5.3 junkyard LS into a 1996 z28 with an LT1 and be compatible with the LT1 harness and ECU? Wiring work and ECU cuts deep into my budget

I believe LS1Tech user "the merv"modified his 1995harness. He did an LQ9 swap.

You'll also need a new custom torque converter if you're reusing your auto (assuming auto) transmission.

Your factory transmission and rear end won't like 700 horsepower.

The $2000 LS swap is a myth.

Hate to be a debbie downer brother, but these are easily answered questions with a quick google.

EDIT: Also you will need an LS steering rack and engine cradle. And an LS intake manifold with LS accessories.

700 is probably possible with the new aftermarket block.

But if you are trying to do this cheaply, then you won't get close.

Average 383 makes 450 to 500rwhp. Anything over that will take a lot of custom/expensive parts. Most heads and cam LS7's make 600rwhp, so that will tell you how hard it is to make that kind of power N/A.

Believable since they are referring to flywheel hp.
Typically, a healthy 396-cid LT1 is capable of over 515 horsepower with a hydraulic roller, pump-gas friendly compression, and a decent set of heads.

Absolutely agree since mine is making right at 440rwhp/500 flywheel.

It also has a SBC intake, 13:1 compression, solid rollers, and on E85 with a 58x swap. Thats all out of the norm for 383/396 builds.

Its 2023 now. Plenty of LT1 factors blocks in 7’s now. 1 in mid 6’s.
