Default 1993 trans Am no start

I've got a 93 TA with the LT1 and it was starting ok when I bought it but it started to get harder to start. Now it will only start up if you spray it with carb and choke cleaner and it'll run for while you're giving it gas but it will only idle for a bit and then die. Does that sound like the Omni spark distributor get weak

Sounds like lack of fuel to me. 93 LT1's are pretty notorious for bad fuel pumps. I have replaced two. One on each of my 93's. They tend to make noise if they are going bad. Turn off the radio and accessories and listen for a sucking sound. That is a telltale sign for that. You could have a clogged fuel filter. Not likely but a possibility. You could also have a vacuum lock from too tight of a fuel cap (likely would get that same sucking sound from the fuel pump). I would check those simple things first.

Default No start

fuel pressure before starting is between 45 and 50 psi. It's between the pressure before starting. It was starting good when I first got it but it started getting harder to start but now it would start unless I spray carb and choke cleaner in because it has a low ignition source. The whole time the fuel pressure is great. But if I'm not giving it gas after it fires up it seems like it going to stay running but then it'll die and as long as the engine is warm it'll start up. But I've talked to All my friends who are some of the smartest mechanics I know said it's the Omni spark distributor getting weak and not putting out enough fire to start the gas, but carb and choke cleaner has a low flame point so it doesn't take as hot as fire to make it start on it.

Default I do appreciate your input though

I'm going to change my Omni spark distributor tomorrow and see if that helps and the plugs and wires to I'll let you know if that fixes it

I have replaced my optispark too. I did it in 4 hours. I replaced every single hose when I did this one.

Default Yeah it's a pain

It definitely looks like a bitch but I really think after all the diagnoses I've done it's the last time I can change. I really think it's that after I talked to my friend who is the smartest mechanic for these engines and GM products. I normally can call him and he can tell me within 5 minutes what's wrong with my problems I can't figure out. I went through everything it was doing when it would start fine and slowly started getting harder and harder until it wouldn't start without a low ignition source spray. Luckily I've already replaced all my hoses and all I have to do is pull the water pump and balancer and get right to it

Pull your cooling fans out first. They come out easy. Then you have room to work.

Default No start after sitting all night

No start after sitting night, but I hit it with a little carb and choke cleaner and it'll start up and run. After that the rest of the day it starts fine. I'm going to change the Omni spark, and check the filter in the morning. I might even check the fuel pressure regulator because I have excellent fuel pressure at the fuel rails. I'll let y'all know what I find out after I finish it tomorrow
