Question LT1 swap

I currently have a 1995 3800 automatic Camaro, and would like to swap it to the 5.7 the typically comes in the Z28, id like to know if i can use the current transmission. As well as know everything else that would be necessary for this swap, and roughly what it would cost me.

A simple forum search will yield you more information than you probably want.

Cliffs' Notes:
Don't do it. Sell your V6 car and buy an LT1 car. The swap will cost you more than expense of springing for the extra cash to buy an LT1 car that is in decent shape.

No, the transmission will not bolt up. The bellhousing is different.

^^That's the answer I was waiting for. Same work to install a Gen II LT Engine as a GEN III LS Engine. Might as well go with what's better.

Just wondering why you want to change the motor in this car. I actually have a 95 Camaro and swapped a LT1 into it close to 20 years ago. I should have done LS1 instead way back then. But the wiring scared me more then anything I still would like to lol as I still have the car.
If your asking this you probably don't have the ability to do the swap.

A clean, 1994-97 LT1 powered Z28 would probably cost you all of $5K ( I avoided '93 because they have a chip PCM and are more of a pain to tune ). To do a swap would cost you double that. Unless you cut corners everywhere, and then you have a subpar swap that's worth less than a clean factory LT1 car.
