Default Lsa to Duration...383 build up!!

I'm rebuilding my 383...i'm having the internals balanced this time! , which wasn't done to my 4340 eagle kit in the first place...it had a mad vibration between 2000-3000, shook the car to pieces...literally (broken bellhousing, header leaks, 3 optisparks, 1 broken ypipe, 1 broken xpipe...anyways i'm swapping the old cam...224/230 112 and was wondering how would a 115 lsa affect a 236/245 duration cam. I'm planning for nitrous, but will a 236/245 lsa 115 still make good all around power? I've been researching it a lot, and I think this may be a wonderful cam for me. I've read that a wider lsa will help with a lot of things like making it more streetable...making it idle better, lower the torque range, have better emissions, and be ready for nitrous in the future. but I wanted a larger cam, like a 230-236 intake duration cam to help me 383 breath a little better, get some better number out of it...Any suggestions....

Tell me your reasoning behind your cam chooses and tell me what you think about mine.

The duration is good, it's best to have a wide split and lots of exhaust duration to clear out the extra exhaust made by the nitrous. However, you've got to keep in mind that the 115LSA will severely affect your topend. Your motor won't be able to make power as high as if you were on a 112 LSA. I don't know the exact numbers, but if you want to rev up and past 6500 RPM then you'll have to narrow that LSA a bit. It really depends on how high you've built your motor to rev.

thats a common misconception enisguy. The lower LSA will make your power hit at a slightly lower rpm range, it will come on stronger but die off sooner and more sharply. The higher LSA will make a smoother idle, but it will raise the peak power a few 100 rpm's in the power band and it wont die off as sharply. Its a trade off of sorts, and that was a very basic description. For your nitrous, you basically want a split pattern cam with atleast 6 degrees longer duration at a minimum on your exhaust and so the cam of your choice should accomplish your task roughly. Best thing to do is go with a custom grind. I know everybody has heard that a million times, but its the truth. There is just so much that can be gained from a properly selected cam grind that is designed to match your needs/heads. With that 115 LSA, your car is gonna be a sleeper, nobody will know the beast that lies within. Should be a nice sleeper(stroker on spray)

single pattern = 224/224
split pattern = 224/230
reverse split pattern = 230/224
